And Why That Matters
At Mother City Fish, we’re all about getting premium, responsibly sourced seafood to your door in the most sustainable way possible. One of the ways we put our values into action is by radically reducing packaging — and that includes not handing over your fish in disposable containers.
So, how does it work?
If we’re delivering to your home or office, your order arrives in a reusable cooler box (or polystyrene crate) that keeps everything perfectly chilled en route. When we get there, we ask that you unpack your goodies straight into your fridge or freezer and return the cooler box to us before we head off.
If you’re collecting from us, we ask that you bring your own cooler bag or box to transport your fish home safely. It might take a little extra effort, but it saves a whole lot of unnecessary waste.
Why we do it
We’re committed to keeping our environmental footprint as light as possible. That means saying no to unnecessary packaging; especially single-use plastics and polystyrene that usually end up in landfill (or worse, in the ocean).
This simple system not only cuts down on waste, but it also helps build a more conscious community around how we consume. It’s a small shift that can have a big impact and we’re proud to be doing things a little differently.
Sustainability is one of our core values
We’re not perfect, but we’re always looking for ways to do better; whether it’s working with responsible fishing vessels, supporting local producers, or reducing waste in our supply chain. Our no-packaging policy is one of the many small-but-meaningful steps we take toward building a more sustainable food system.
Thanks for being part of the movement — cooler boxes and all!
