We love hearing from our customers — but to save you time, here are answers to the questions we get most often.

Where is your shop located?

We’re primarily an online shop, delivering across Cape Town and surrounding suburbs.

Prefer to collect? You’re welcome to pick up your order from Ren’s home in Newlands (near the Vineyard Hotel).

📍 Because it’s a private home, we only share the address once your order is confirmed.

Not keen to order online?
No problem — you can shop in person. Just contact Ren to book a time: 082 903 9834.

How do collections work?

Collections are simple, efficient, and low-waste.

Here’s what to expect:

  • 📍 Location: Ren’s home in Newlands (address sent after your order is confirmed)

     

  • 🕗 Times: Monday–Friday, 09:00–16:00 (later times available by request)

     

  • 🔔 Pro tip: The doorbell is a small white box inside the grey metal gate

     

  • 🛍️ Bring your own bag or cooler — we keep packaging to a minimum

If there’s only one product visible, that’s all we’ve got right now. This page on our website is always up to date with stock available.

How is your fish priced?

We don’t sell by the kilogram.

To make online shopping easy, we offer standardised, ready-to-cook packs, with clear pricing and descriptions on each product page.

Want a whole fish for the braai? Contact us — we’ll try to source one (subject to availability).

Do you sell frozen fish?

Yes!

We stock frozen fish from trusted local suppliers and also freeze any unsold portions of our own fresh, line-caught fish.

Frozen items are clearly marked on the website here.

Do you sell wholesale or supply restaurants?

We currently supply our Made by MCF range to a few delis:

  • Son of a Butcher (Sea Point)
  • Wildsprout (Kenilworth, Constantia & Sea Point)

Note: We do not supply fresh or frozen fish on a wholesale basis.

Are your products sourced using sustainable methods?

Absolutely. Sustainability is one of our core values.

We source from a certified export fishery (WWF-SASSI & SAHLLA accredited) and work with:

  • Small-scale local fisheries
  • Longline vessels
  • Reputable, ethical suppliers


Most of our fish is
line- or pole-caught. We avoid trawled and imported options.

Our house-made products are crafted with high-quality, responsibly sourced ingredients. No compromises.

Do you cater to allergies or special diets?

Many of our products use gluten-free ingredients, but please note:
All items are prepared in Ren’s home kitchen, where wheat and other allergens may be present.

We use no preservatives or additives, which is why most of our products come frozen.

How do I store and use your fish products?

Each product page includes care and cooking instructions.

Can I order for a specific day?

Yes — within reason.

If you have a preferred delivery or collection date, leave a note at checkout or contact us directly.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Fresh fish is subject to availability
  • Backordered items may delay your order
